Polyester yarn belongs to chemical fibers, each with its own characteristics of chemical fibers and natural fibers.
Polyester chemical fibers have a wide range of applications, developing beyond traditional clothing into industries such as automotive, construction, interior and exterior decoration of buildings, and labor protection. The development direction of chemical fiber applications is shifting towards non-apparel fields. The share of non-apparel chemical fibers in East Asia's total demand is increasing year by year, especially due to some excellent properties of chemical fibers, making them suitable for specialized industrial fields and holding a special important position.
1. Regenerated fibers: Their chemical composition is the same as natural cellulose, but their physical structure has changed, hence they are called regenerated cellulose fibers. Examples include viscose fibers, acetate fibers, and cupro fibers, with viscose fibers being the main production in our country. Characteristics: Soft hand feel, good luster, good moisture absorption, good breathability, and good dyeing performance (not easy to fade). The downside is poor wet fastness, meaning strength decreases when wet.
2. Synthetic fibers: Polyester, characteristics: good strength and abrasion resistance, crisp, not easy to deform, known for being wrinkle-free, and not easy to fade. The downside is poor water absorption. Nylon, characteristics: high strength, good abrasion resistance, leading among fibers. The downsides are similar to polyester, with poor moisture absorption and breathability. Acrylic, characteristics: better luster than wool and silk fibers. However, it has poorer abrasion resistance. There are also other fibers like vinylon, polypropylene, and spandex.
